Worship & Ministries

Learn more about our worship and ministry offerings.

We feel that the church is at its best when everyone uses their natural gifts, abilities, and resources to serve the community and the world to be part of something bigger. We serve, interact, give financial support, and work with partner organizations here in Canal Winchester, throughout central Ohio and well beyond geographical boundaries.

At David’s, we have built a growing tradition of strong adult education and faith formation experiences. We offer opportunities that walk us through the Bible and other Christian literature with an eye on how they apply to our lives and the wider world. We offer a variety of learning experiences, such as book studies, Bible studies, art studies, small-group special interest circles, workshops, speakers, and much more! All of these things help us to discover our spiritual gifts and direct us toward formation and transformation of our lives in Christ. Some of these groups meet weekly, others monthly, and some more occasionally.

Nursery

David’s UCC provides a nursery staffed by trained childcare attendants to tend your young children during the Sunday morning worship service. Of course, children are always welcome to stay with you in the sanctuary throughout worship.

Children’s Sunday School

Our Sunday School program utilizes the Joyful Path series from ProgressiveChristianity.org that celebrates a joy-filled life, compassion for all, and the wisdom within.

This class currently meets on Sunday morning  at 10:10 am.

Confirmation

Confirmation class is a nine-month-long experience for 7th and 8th graders as they learn what it means to be a disciple of Jesus and a member of the church.

Fireside Connections’ purpose is to make stronger connections with God, each other, and ourselves. As we delve into various topics, we strive to deepen our understanding and relationships. But the aim is always to help us grow in our faith, in our relationships with each other and God, and to grow in our self- awareness and how we live our lives. Fireside Connections meets every Monday at 6:00 pm via Zoom.

The B.R.E.A.D. Organization is comprised of many different congregations, who in turn represent many different traditions. Each of our congregations believes something different—about the nature of God and the name of God.  But each of us shares a commitment to pursue justice guided by our faith—to finding, in the things that we share, the strength that unity can bring.

Canal Winchester Human Services exists to connect people, resources, and compassion together in order to support and serve our local community in life-changing ways. Our goal is that whoever walks through our doors, whether it is to serve or be served, feels valued and connected, not just to a building or a program, but to the community at large.

Our Tools for Schools (TFS) program provides students with school supplies and backpacks throughout the school year. This is offered to students attending Canal Winchester or Bloom Carroll Schools.

Our church has been very involved with our Venezuelan Refugee Family, sponsored through CRIS. We continue to lend support with childcare, transportation, and other needs as they arise.

A recent Justice Mission involving Environmental Justice led to the formation of a Green Team. This committee is exploring and implementing native species replacement of non-native invasive species on our church grounds and ways to cut down on our energy utilization and recycle more, both at church and in our own homes.
