Pastor Ken has the joy of serving as Senior Pastor of David’s United Church of Christ in Canal Winchester since 2025. Before coming to David’s UCC, he served as Associate Pastor at St. Mark’s United Church of Christ in New Albany, Indiana.
Ken believes that every person is deeply loved by God and that the church is a place where everyone is welcome to belong, grow, and serve. This conviction shapes his ministry and his desire to help people encounter God’s grace, build authentic community, and discover meaningful ways to live out their faith.
Originally from the mountains of southwestern Virginia, Ken served in the United States Navy before answering God’s call to ministry. During this time, he credits the Navy Chaplain Corps with shaping his faith and awakening his call to ordained ministry—a calling that continues to inspire his compassionate approach to pastoral leadership.
Ken holds a Master of Divinity with a concentration in Educational Ministry from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, a bachelor’s degree in Human Services from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas, and an associate degree in Ministry from Clear Creek Baptist Bible College in Pineville, Kentucky.
His faith has been enriched by experiences across several Christian traditions, giving him a deep appreciation for the many ways God works through the Church. That ecumenical journey has shaped a ministry rooted in humility, hospitality, and the conviction that we often grow most when we listen to and learn from one another. He believes that following Jesus means extending grace, seeking justice, building authentic relationships, and making room for everyone at God’s table.
Whether preaching on Sunday morning, visiting with members, leading a Bible study, or sharing a conversation over coffee, he is grateful to journey alongside the people of David’s UCC as together they seek to share Christ’s love with their neighbors and the world.
When he’s not at the church, Ken enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring God’s creation through hiking, fishing, skiing, and other outdoor adventures, or discovering new places to visit. Time in nature renews his spirit, deepens his appreciation for God’s creation, and reminds him of the beauty and wonder found in everyday life. He also believes that laughter is one of God’s good gifts and enjoys finding opportunities to bring joy and a little humor into ministry whenever he can.
Jamie has been with David’s UCC since 2021. Her role at the church is to prepare for Sunday’s Service by creating the bulletin and the slideshow, as well as creating the weekly newsletters, and the monthly Dialogue. She also runs the church office Monday through Friday.
Jamie is married and has a dog and three cats. She lives in Pickerington and attends David’s Sunday Service reguarly.
When she’s not at church she enjoys hanging out with family and friends. She also likes to stay home and binge watch a good movie or show.
Carol has been a member of David’s UCC for over thirty years, and in that time has been on several committees such as Consistory, Board for Christian Growth, Worship Arts, the Extended Care Board, and David’s prayer group. She has also held roles as church schoolteacher and co-leader for confirmation studies. In addition to these, she now fills the role of chairperson of the Care Ministry Team and Minister of Congregational Care. This role requires an elder who offers intentional presence which connects those who are homebound, or in the hospital, with the wider church community. Carol is able to offer communion elements that have been consecrated during worship as a sacramental ministry to those who are unable to attend church. She visits homebound and hospitalized individuals in coordination with the senior pastor and maintains a confidential pastoral care report that she shares with him. Carol worked as a cytogenetic technologist with Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus. Her husband Bernie is a clinical outcomes manager for OhioHealth. They live near Canal Winchester and have two grown children. Their son Konrad is a software programmer in Columbus and their daughter Gretchen is the senior pastor of Bismarck UCC in Bismarck, ND.
Theo (sounds like TAYO) has been making music around Columbus since . . . well, for a very long time! When making music, you will catch him playing piano, bass, drums, guitar, or trumpet, or singing—and often more than one instrument at a time! He has written 100+ original compositions for bands and theaters, and even one weird commercial you can still hear on the radio. Theo has a BA in Vocal Performance from Otterbein University and is a guest faculty member at the Ohio State University, teaching “The Singing Actor” class to develop young actors’ ability to act through song. He has directed the music for over thirty musicals, including our local Wagnalls Community Theater, CATCO and Actors Theatre, and Ohio State University. He is currently the performance arts teacher for grades 7-12 at the Arts and College Preparatory Academy.
